LOTR - The Endless Knot

Dec 07, 2003 00:55

The Endless Knot by E. M. Theis. When a simple mission to Minas Morgul turns deadly, Faramir faces the greatest trial of their lives. Slight AU.
Status: 30 chapters. Complete.

A few warnings first, 1) do not start reading this story if you don't have the time to finish it (I appear to have lost the past four hours...), 2) if you are any stort of Faramir fan, this story will wrench your heart. That being said, go read it right now! The depth of the characterization of Faramir in this story is truly amazing. I've never seen his character explored so throughoughly in one place, not to mention the story presents some fantastic insights on morals and decency and what it means to be a man. Other characters are treated equally wonderfully in this story, though Eomer's characterization in particular stands out. There is a nice amount of humour, which balances out the angst and the plot and writing are also solid. I cannot recommend this story more highly, though I do realize it will not be to everyone's tastes.
