Cordy poured their coffee, placing it on the counter. She rushed into the kitchen, returning moments later with plates filled with waffles, sausage and eggs. She put them down, pouring the maple syrup.
Angel smiled, remembering the first time they'd had waffles so long ago at that very counter. He'd been a vampire then, not the human he was now. He watched Cordy take a bite of her breakfast, the diamond on her hand glittering in the bright morning sunlight. She caught his eye, tenderness sparkling from within their hazel depths. Not the husband.
Angel picked up his fork, content.
