She noticed the small things. He called her Kate more than Beckett like he'd always done in the past. He whispered words of encouragement when she needed them most. He listened a lot more instead of making jokes. He let her cry when she needed to instead of trying to fix everything. When she was done, he simply pulled her into a hug, soothing her as best he could.
He did all these things because he was no longer afraid to show her what was in his heart. She only hoped that one day she would be able to tell him what was in hers. But for now, it was enough.
