The day I lost you, my world changed forever. Gone was the gentle man I'd fallen in love with. Gone was the man who would do anything to help another. In your place was the soulless monster you'd once been, hell bent on destroying everything and everyone that you hold dear.
For three days, I watched as you destroyed everything in your path. You drank blood from humans, the very thing you promised yourself you'd never do again. You tortured and killed without a second thought to anything beyond the joy that it brought you. Only a visit from Willow, armed with a powerful spell, brought you back to me.
When your soul was restored and you remembered all you had done, the pain in your eyes was more than I could bear. I would have carried that pain myself if it meant you wouldn't have to. You kept apologizing to me, even when I told you not to, even when I reminded you that it wasn't you that had done those things. You wanted to leave, to run away so you wouldn't hurt anyone ever again. But I convinced you to stay.
We can never go back to the way things were, but we can move forward. You think I can no longer love you because of the things you did, but you're wrong. I love you more. Not because of what you did, but because of how it affected you afterwards. It showed me yet again what a truly amazing man you are. Now I just have to convince you of that.
