Just saw Inception. Mind is a puddle on the floor.
First and foremost: is it bad that I really, really want Arthur/Eames fanfic??? I was feeling it from the start, so much snark and teasing, but when Eames called him "Darling", well that just sealed the deal. I TOTALLY SHIP IT.
Ellen Paige actually managed to kind of annoy me in this, which made me faintly sad. She was a total plot device. But then I realized that if Cobb was indeed still lost in limbo then she IS a plot device, a plot device he came up with to allow himself to maintain the illusion, which means she's AWESOME.
However, I really don't want Cobb to still be lost in limbo, because I loved all of the secondary characters so much (Even Adriadne, when she wasn't being so plot-devicey), I don't want them to be projections. :(
WHO THE HELL IS TOM HARDY AND WHY HAVE I NEVER SEEN HIM BEFORE? HE IS GORGEOUS AND FUNNY AND DARLING AND A GREAT ACTOR, GET INTO MORE MOVIES DUDE.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt was magnificent (and dreamy!) as always. Love that manchild sfm.
Leo really only plays the same character over and over, doesn't he? I don't mind so far, but I hope he branches out in the future. It's getting a bit repetitive. Basically, Cobb was okay, but I only cared about the plot because I really wanted everyone else to survive. And now I want lots and lots of fanfiction fleshing them out and explaining their backstories, I want adorable Adriadne/Arthur, I want the history of Saito's business, I want angsty, fucked up Fischer/Fischer Sr., I want the back story/AU of Eames going to an all-boys boarding school and dealing with the realization that he is gay whilst simultaneously running an underground black market/offering his SERVICES in forgery and theft to his classmates for money, until he makes enough to ditch school and his insufferable, cold, filthy rich family and run off to the middle east, where he makes a shit load of money in Dubai "acquiring" important artifacts for wealthy businessmen until one day he meets Arthur on a job (Arthur has whatever he needs to steal) and they fall in love and he has to extricate himself from his job, which isn't easy because his bosses want to kill him Bourne Identity style. OMG YES PLEASE. You may have just witnessed Eames/Arthur become my new obsession. IT'S JUST SO HOT.
So yeah, it was brilliant and amazing and all, but really, I'm just interested in the potential porn. :D
Have you seen it yet? What did you think?
ETA: UM HELLO, TOM HARDY IS MY NEW FAVORITE PERSON EVER: "In many ways I felt the work was done around me. I just drank lots of tea. I'd ask if there was anything I could do and they'd say: 'Not really.' So there was lots of tea for Tommy. Then they'd call me over and say: 'Can you jump off this?' I'd say: 'Absolutely!', then I'd just loiter in the corner looking fab. As is my wont. I like to flatter myself into believing that the character I played was actually Chris Nolan. I felt he was key to Eames and I latched on to him and his mannerisms. I think Leonardo DiCaprio looks like Chris and Chris looks like Leo - not to upset anyone. I think they're related, actually. In fact, you start to think: are all of these people in the film actually Chris?"
