"Why in the ruttin' hell would Badger give a damn?"
"It's all part of our master plan to get food in our stomachs," Wash responded sarcastically.
"You mean she's gonna...that ain't fair, Mal!" Jayne exclaimed. Zoë promptly smacked him in the back of his head.
"Get your mind outta the gutter, Jayne. River's just gonna have a little...meetin' with Badger."
"She is going to use wiles," River added excitedly.
"Ya mean we're wastin' good money so that little crazy can go on a date?" he demanded, turning towards Mal.
"I'm sorry, Jayne, I was under the impression that you wanted to get paid sometime in the next few months."
"So we're gonna go beggin' that little pisspot for work?"
"It's the best prospect at the moment, Jayne," Zoë interjected, staring at him menacingly.
"An' what if she goes all feng le?"
"Well, that's where you come in, Jayne," Mal said, much too cheerily for Jayne's liking.
"You mean I gotta babysit little crazy while she plays house with that hun dan?" he asked, blinking incredulously. River was frowning darkly in his direction, but he ignored her.
"What you gotta do is your job," Mal responded, in a tone clearly indicating that the conversation was over. Jayne scowled in response, but seemingly accepted his fate, as he voiced no further objection.
"Swell," Mal said, smiling sarcastically. "Now let's get goin', we've only got a coupla hours before the meetin' with Badger."
