Warnings: None
Summary: Kris is sick with a high fever and imagines being threatened, but Katy is there to save him.

Kris was pretty sure he had never been this sick. He had such a high fever and nothing was helping. His throat hurt like he swallowed knives and he had a horrible cough that sounded like death.

When he slept, he dreamed of walking the Sahara, and dying of dehydration and melting into the white hot sand.

Katy came in sometimes, tried to get him to drink water, or go chill out in the tub, but to do that, he'd have to move. And right now, there was no way that was possible. His head felt like a lead weight, and his extremities, like they weighed two tons a piece. Kris would rather stay here and pretend that his bed was an igloo and their room was the North Pole. But it was pointless.

Besides that, the last time she had come in, resembling The Incredible Hulk, with glowing red eyes, and threatening to crush everything in her path. He vowed never to leave the room, or even open his own eyes until he started feeling human again.

"Kris, you need to get in the bath," Katy said sympathetically, touching his burning forehead gently. She had no idea why he was wearing a pajama shirt and pants, but both were soaked in sweat. She was going to have to change the sheets, too. There was no way she was going to sleep on them the way they were now.

In bed, he moaned and twisted, as the Hulk's giant green hand came to rest on his forehead again, and repeated his promise to crush everything.

"No, don't crush me," he managed, looking bravely at the Hulk, his throat raw, and head aching.

"Kris, come on, you're delusional now. I need to get your fever down, and I can't do it with you under every blanket we own," she complained.

Katy had given up trying to reason with her husband. She sat on the bed, and made him hold onto her, so she could carry him into the bathroom. Then she ran lukewarm water, not caring when he got in the tub with all his pajamas on. He looked pale and completely pathetic, but at least he was getting cooler. Katy made a mental note to get Tylenol into him between now and when he went back to bed. Preferably, after he was done hallucinating.

"Will I be safe here?" he asked weakly.

"Kris, do you know who you're talking to?" Katy asked sternly, turning his face to hers.

"The Incredible Hulk's gonna crush everything.." he reported, sounding concerned.

"No, he won't. Not as long as I'm here. You're safe," she reassured.

And Kris relaxed as all the green melted away and Katy was sitting in the monster's place.

"What'd you do to make him leave?" Kris asked, confused.

She smiled slightly, making sure he was cooling off. "I brought your fever down."

"He had red eyes. They glowed."

"Don't worry about it," Katy repeated. "It's gone. I'm here."

"You know I love you, right?" he managed.

"Yeah, I know. "
