Slash rating:

As a warning, this is a Sherlock topping fic, so perhaps best to avoid if this is not your thing.

This is a well-written fic with an engaging storyline and believable dialogue and interactions between the characters.

John, on finding Sherlock's cryptic notes around the flat, begins to start obsessing about the meaning of them. His reactions and growing frustration are brilliantly in character. The detail is so vivid it is easy to see his facial expressions and hear his voice as he thinks over the situation.

Sherlock is written true to the series too. Leaving the notes as a way of flirting is exactly how you would expect Sherlock to flirt. In a few of the scenes he does seem to be slightly sweeter/gentler than the series version, but it's still well-written and the author doesn't take it too far.

The other players, such as Mycroft and Mrs Hudson, are also kept in character. The dialogue between Sherlock and Mycroft, or lack of, because Sherlock's feelings are made clear via his violin playing, is pretty near perfect. So too the dialogue between John and Mycroft.

This fic is full of subtle humour, from John's inner ramblings, through Sherlock's unique style of communicating, to Mycroft's meddling, all serving to make this very readable.

There are a few repetitions in the fic, which stood out when reading all three chapters at once, but these are easily overlooked as it is an otherwise endearing piece of writing which can easily be read over and again.
