He’s not sure why he’s doing this. It seems such a girly game to play. His childhood playmate’s long, dark hair flies behind her as she runs, the red robe on her lithe form brushing against the grass. She’s brandishing a smooth ‘magical’ stick - an exciting find that had her brown eyes glowing warmly for hours. It’s just a stick, he thinks grouchily, eyeing it almost as warily as its owner.

“Come ON, Li!” She’s got hands on hips, a pout on her lips, annoyance playing clearly at her friend’s inattentiveness. He cringes as she brings the stick straight in front of her, to point directly at him, like a fairy waving a wand. Though far more ugly, he adds. After all, she’s a girl.

Her gaze lifts above his head and she gasps dramatically. He rolls his eyes as her childish enthusiasm beams out full force.
“Look! There! A Clow card! There, Li! Can you see it? I think it’s the Windy!” He follows her gaze to find an empty tree, green leaves gently swaying in the slight ruffles of breeze. It is kind of amazing where she can see these beings. Narrowed eyes signal the spirit’s intentions a moment before its attack, an invisible path Li will never be able to trace, no matter how determined he is to see it. Which he’s not.

He stumbles when she rushes to him to clasp his arm, pulling away from the creature that is rushing past them. But he ignores the slip, used to her roughness by now.
“Look! There it goes!” Apparently the Windy has arrived in front of them and is causing havoc with the air around them. She’s brought a hand to cover her eyes from the harsh, gale winds blustering around them. He holds her steady, anchoring her smaller frame in the whirlwind.

Failing power leaves the Windy glaring. A pitiful stare-down is initiated with the young girl. It makes no difference. It’ll meet the same end all the others meet eventually, faced with the ferocious Cardcaptor.
“It’s losing!” Her tone is almost cruel towards the imaginary creature, but he’s witnessed the capture enough to know she’s gleeful, that she hates to lose, and that’s the cause of her vindictive nature.

One last vain attempt to blow them away is blocked as Meilin steps forcefully in front of him, twirling her magic stick. Intimidated, the Windy bows in acceptance of its fate. Its majestic mistress steps forward, her wand above her head, law in her eyes.
“Windy, return to your Clow card!” In one swoop the staff is brought down to the ground and the Windy evaporates.

Meilin beams as she faces him, producing a long leaf - an imposter of a card.
“We did it, Li!” He smiles at the perky girl in front of him, looking chuffed after her win. Eager praise is hinted at in her eyes, so he congratulates her on her accomplishment. It is, he admits, kind of satisfying to see the bold girl become stronger, take control. There’s an open joy in her laugh that he admires, and a fire that grows in her eyes every day she lives. Despite his initial unwillingness to play, he always enjoys himself in the end.

He’s not sure why he does this. It’s such a girly game to play. But, he admits, it’s better than playing weddings.
