Ryo was already beginning to have a bad feeling about the whole trip. Mainly because Bikky and Dee had not only been overexcited over it, but also bickering more than ever, even when threatened by Carol and himself (respectively) with having to sleep alone, or worse, in the same room. The bad feeling wasn't helped at all by the way Dee stared at all the women in bikinis, though that he knew was a silly thing to have a bad feeling about.
"Are you just going to stare?" he asked, pointedly. Bikky might have been drooling a little. Carol's hands were on her hips.
"Bikky!"
Dee nudged Bikky. "Careful not to annoy the lady," he said, smirking a little. "You'll ruin your chances of getting her in a bikini, though I have to admit she still hasn't got much to show off."
"Watch what you're saying about my girlfriend!" Bikky said, hotly, though Ryo had to wonder if that was more out of habit and a desire to keep in Carol's good books than anything else. He rolled his eyes when Dee and Bikky started arguing, again.
"This is the twentieth time this morning," Carol said, sighing deeply.
"You're still counting?"
Carol huffed softly. Then she rolled her eyes, linking arms with Ryo. "Let's leave them to it and go and get some ice cream, okay? And let's not buy them any, just to pay them back."
Ryo smiled at her. "That sounds like a very good idea."
Ice cream, on a hot day near a beach, wasn't hard to find. Ryo was reluctant to go far. "They'll get worried if they stop arguing and we're not anywhere to be seen," he said, although he quite agreed with Carol's sentiment that they'd deserve the worrying.
"This is really nice," Carol said, happily. "It tastes way better than ice cream back at home. I suppose that's because we're in the right kind of place for it. You know, really in the mood for it, you know?"
"I know what you mean," Ryo said, trying to eat the ice cream without getting any on himself. He failed, but it didn't matter -- Dee arrived just a moment later to slide into the seat next to Ryo and lick the ice cream from his cheek.
"How come you didn't get any for us?" he asked, pouting a little. Bikky fell into the seat next to Carol and grinned at her.
"Because you were fighting," Ryo said, sternly. Or at least, he was trying to be stern. After a moment he sighed and dug out some change. "Go on, you two go and get some ice cream too."
"You're too nice," Carol said, smiling at Ryo fondly.
----
"Tomorrow, we're going to stay in bed most of the day, I think," Dee said, stretching out on the bed while Ryo brushed his teeth. "Lie in until noon. Snooze and maybe have sex. What do you think?"
Ryo still blushed a little when Dee said things like that. He focused on rinsing his toothbrush. "I think that Bikky and Carol won't stay in bed that long, and will be wondering where we are."
Dee huffed softly, putting his hands behind his head and stretching a little more. He was eyeing Ryo's pajamas. They were coming off again ASAP, he decided. He deserved some fun after such a long day trying to keep Bikky in line. "And I think that those two will find some way to amuse themselves. Possibly the exact same way."
Ryo spluttered.
"What, you didn't know?"
"I don't want to think about it," Ryo said, firmly, moving over to the bed and crawling under the covers. Dee joined him quickly, cuddling up to him and putting his arms around him.
"Yeah, I'd rather think about us having sex."
"Do you ever think about anything else?" Ryo asked, teasing just a little. He sighed contentedly, stretching and curling his toes. "It's nice to be able to take a break together like this. No possibility of being called out for a homicide, no -- "
Dee covered his mouth. "Careful, you'll jinx it."
Ryo laughed, batting Dee's hand away. "Probably true. So... why aren't you pouncing on me yet?"
"I'm getting lax, really, aren't I?" Dee said, and proceeded to pounce on Ryo, and follow through on his decision to get him out of those pajamas as quickly as possible.
----
Bikky eyed Carol in her bikini. Dee had been very, very wrong, he decided. He grinned at her when she raised an eyebrow at him. "What are you staring at, mister?"
"You. You look very good in that bikini."
"Good," she said. She plopped down on the towel she'd just spread out, digging her toes into the sand at the edge. "It's a lovely day. I think I'm just going to lie here a while and soak up the sun."
Bikky eyed her for a moment longer. She'd closed her eyes, so she didn't notice. He bit his lip to hold back a snicker, and then scooped her up with only a little difficulty, putting her over his shoulder. She flailed.
"Bikky! What're you -- "
It was a good thing they weren't far from the sea where they were, he decided. Carol wasn't weightless at the best of times, and a kicking and flailing Carol was almost too much to handle. Finally, though, he dumped her in the sea, grinning at her indignance.
"Bikky!"
He stuck his tongue out. "Catch me if you can!"
He'd forgotten, though, that she could run, and that looking over his shoulder at her in her now damp bikini was quite distracting. She caught up to him easily and pushed him right into the water, landing on top of him. He put an arm around her, since she was conveniently there. "Hey there," he said, as suggestively as he could. She rolled her eyes and hit him in the chest.
"Meanie."
"You know you love me," he said, and then they both lapsed into silence. The water around them was cool, but not too cold, and they were in the shallow part so that Bikky's back touched the sand beneath, so they stayed there, comfortable. After a while Carol pulled away, stretching.
"Where do you suppose Dee and Ryo are?" Bikky asked, sitting up as well and brushing wet sand from his back with some difficulty.
"Are you kidding? Dee isn't going to let Ryo out of until at least noon. You know him."
Bikky made a face. "I'd rather not."
Carol hit him again, lightly. "I'm all wet and sandy now!"
He gave her an appreciative look, smirking. "It looks good on you."
"Pervert."
----
It was nice, too, Ryo thought, to have Carol and Bikky out of the way and to just walk with Dee, actually hand in hand, to just wander wherever they felt like. There weren't many other people around, but he was hoping Dee wasn't going to notice that. "This is nice."
"Not worrying about Bikky and Carol?" Dee asked, raising an eyebrow.
"They're grown up," he said, shrugging. "More or less, anyway."
"Yeah. Still house apes, but grown up and well trained house apes."
Ryo elbowed Dee on Bikky's behalf, since it seemed like the thing to do. Dee just made a face at him and pulled him to the edge of the path so they could look down at the view. After a moment, he let go of Ryo's hand and wrapped his arms around him, resting his chin on his shoulder. Ryo smiled.
"Is it true you'd never seen the sea before this, then? You said when you were sick..."
"Yeah," Dee said. He sounded quiet, kind of regretful. "Being brought up in an orphanage... there wasn't much money for seaside holidays, you know? We had to make our own amusement as it was."
Ryo bit his lip. Dee rolled his eyes, kissing at his neck and then nibbling at his earlobe.
"Not like it matters, though. But if you like, you can start trying to make up for my deprived life."
It took him a moment to get it. "Dee, we're not having sex here."
"I still need to work on your exhibitionist streak," he said, with an exaggerated sigh.
