Goliath has of yet, told the others of his rather daring but dangerous plan. It certainly is one that will cause quite a bit of careful strategy to fully convince the members of his clan to go through with and Goliath anticipates that will be more than a few hard feelings and heightened emotions when he at last unveils the plan.

Hudson and the others might be on board for it, the others with confidence and persuasion on his part. Goliath is less certain of Brooklyn, given that his last encounter with Demona was a complete disaster.

Demona is a thorn in their collective sides, once, long ago , when she was a trusted member of their clan, only to betray them centuries ago when the castle fell to Hakon and his army of Viking warriors.

Deomona was also his best warrior and his Angel of the Night. He loved once, and maybe he still harbors a forlorn and perhaps foolish hope that Demona feels for him.

“It’s foolish and even dangerous to think along those lines, considering how many times now Demona had set out to purposely either divide or even destroy them.

Goliath knows all this as he perches on the top of the stone pillar that is the castle's highest point among the crumbling ruins. To a passerby who might chance to look up his position and the way he rests the palm of his hand against his strong chiseled chin resembles that of the famous French sculptor's Rodin's, the Thinking Man.

Goliath had always a been a strong believer and advocate for second chances, and if need be, many others after that. In a small dark corner of his mind, he had to consider that fact that in order to save someone from themselves, they first must want to be saved. Another nagging thought also occurred to him. “This foolhardy mission may very well bring the entire clan into the cross-hairs of Demona’s laser cannon. Is one gargoyle, even my Angel of the Night, worth it.?

Below his perch Goliath could hear the others rustling their wings and squabbling over some kind of electronic device that Elisa had brought up to Lexington as a present. It was small but significant reminder of why even when squabbling about how important his clan was to him.

’Let us be realistic with ourselves, my Angel of the Night, has a less than stellar track record when given the opportunity for redemption. Still, I still believe there is a small spark, some deeply buried memory of what we once had together, and deep down, behind that sneering mask of enmity and rage, I believe she still wants to be saved. So, I am resolved."

Hudson shouted up telling him to come down, it was time for their nightly patrol.

The older gargoyle’s gaze was only partly focused on ruffling the silky ears of their Garg-dog, Bronx; the other eye.

The one with the scar that ran down his cheek, narrowed in concentration, and he knew without having to be told in too much detail what their leader had had in mind. He had not been completely against the idea, just leery of some of the more obvious holes in it. Any number of things might go wrong, especially when dealing when someone as dangerous, volatile, and unpredictable as Demona.

"Are ye still certain ye want to go through with this?" Hudson said in a whisper as the gargoyles spread their wings and launched themselves out onto the rising thermals of the early fall winds of Manhattan for their nightly patrol.

"As certain as I will ever be," replied Goliath, the last to leave, as he watched Hudson pick up Bronx in his strong, old arms and catch up with the others.
