Summary: Galvin can't help a sense of insecurity.
Makes him feel like a petty teenage girl.
The way it swells in his chest whenever he sees Luke talking to Ruby. He knows nothing's ever gonna happen there. Luke's told him as much a thousand times, usually while laughing affectionately at his insecurities. The boy doesn't understand - he'll never see.
Galvin sneering when he flirts with someone else is a joke to Luke. The possessive curl of Galvin's arm around his shoulders is hilarious. And the threat - the real threat - of someone else swooping in to steal him away is ridiculous enough to make him laugh.
Sitting in the Stacks, Galvin reaches out to tug Luke into his lap as he's researching. Luke's well-trained enough by now that he could easily evade him if he wanted to, but he comes easily and settles there as if he belongs: which he does, Galvin tells himself as his arm wraps around Luke's waist. He doesn't look up from the book he's reading, not even when he feels Luke press a gentle kiss to the top of his head.
At least the flirting's stopped and Ruby has returned, sighing, to the other side of the table to start flicking through one of the books. Luke picks up one as well and leans against Galvin as he reads it - and for once Galvin knows that there is nothing to be jealous of.
