Penny glanced up from her television when there was a knock on her door. “Come in,” she said, tossing the tissue she had been dabbing her eyes with onto the pile on the couch next to her.
“Hey,” Leonard said as he opened the door and walked in, stopping in his tracks when he saw her. “Have you been crying? What’s wrong?”
She sniffled, pressing the pause button on her remote. “I just got the 8 Simple Rules DVDs. It’s so sad.”
He blinked then sat on the arm of the couch. “I thought it was a sitcom.”
“It was,” she told him. “But I just got to the episodes after John Ritter died.”
“Oh,” he said, shrugging. He looked at the screen as Penny pressed play. “Wow, that blonde one’s annoying,” he mumbled after watching for a moment.
She blew her nose before looking up at him. “What?” she demanded.
“She’s annoying. I mean, her voice and the way she moves she’s just… she’s annoying.”
“She just lost her father, Leonard.”
“I didn’t see much of this show while it was on air, but she was always annoying. She always came off as kind of stupid.”
“Why does everybody need to be smart?”
“I didn’t say that. I was just pointing out that she seems a little… dimwitted. You know, stereotypical dumb blonde. You’d probably be cast in a similar role.”
“She’s not that dumb, Leonard,” yelled at him as she got off the couch before going into her bedroom, slamming the door behind her.
He raised his eyebrows as he watched her leave the room, then shook his head slightly before turning back to the TV. “The red head’s cute though.”
“Shut UP!”
