“Hey, Casey,” Jason said casually to his partner as he sat down across from her at his desk.
She didn’t respond and stared blankly at her computer screen, one hand tangled in her hair.
“Case?” he asked, slowly standing up. He took a step toward her and waved one hand in front of her face, but she didn’t move. “Hello. Earth to Shraeger.” He snapped his fingers twice in front her eyes.
He put his hands in his pockets and glanced around, then slowly licked his index finger and put it near Casey’s ear.
She grabbed his finger and twisted it around without looking away from her screen, then released him. “Try it again and I’ll break it.” She looked up at him. “Go sit down.”
“What’s up with you?”
She sighed. “Nothing. I’m just working with a six year old. Go sit down and I’ll buy you a toy after work.”
He grinned and leaned forward against her desk. “One that vibrates?”
She rolled her eyes. “Go sit before I put you in time out.”
