Omgomgomgomg!
This pretty much just made my night. Mei-Mei and I have been hoping that Bandai would announce something like this for months, ever since the oh so pretty Tales of Symphonia OVA left us wanting more, and our (im)patience has finally been rewarded. Glee!
Bandai Namco Games announced on Tuesday that Tales of Symphonia: Tethe'alla Chapter, the new OVA sequel series to the Tales of Symphonia the Animation series, has been green-lit.
There's a new image up on the official OVA site to mark the news. Zelos! Regal! Presea! Seraphim Kratos! This easily qualifies for a discrete moment of fangirlish flailing *flails*
Oh my gosh, I hope this turns out to be longer than the first series. How can they fit the entire Tethe'alla arc in to four episodes? I know they skipped a lot of stuff in the original OVA, but the largest portion of the game only takes place after the gang goes to Tethe'alla. Even if they cut a heap of things out, it's still a bit difficult to imagine them squishing the rest of it in to just four episodes without it seeming rushed. But until we hear more, I'm not getting my hopes up that it'll be longer.
The Tethe'alla arc is easily my favourite part of the game, for obvious reasons (coughZeloscough), so I'm really excited about this new series. Given the high production values and the overall quality of the original, I have high hopes for the sequel ♥
No word yet on when the first episode will be released. Hopefully it's already in production, and we won't have to wait a year. I think this calls for a re-watch of the original series, yes/yes?
