Well, that was probably the least confident response she'd heard in a long time. She would've laughed otherwise, but the fact of the matter was that she had wandered over here with absolutely no plan for any real conversation. Really, in the middle of the end of the world, what were you supposed to talk about? Other than the actual ending of the world, that is. And Zoey had had pretty much all she could take of that.

"Are you sure?" she teased, gesturing to the other side of the room. "Because I can totally come back. No pressure, man."

It was really actually kind of cute, the way he'd stumbled. And that was a weird thought in and of itself, wasn't it? Hello, Zoey, end of the world, no time to be musing about how the guy sitting next to you has a tendency to be completely freaking adorable when he wants to be.

And there she was again, back at the whole 'end of the world' thing. So it was either think about boys or think about the end of the world and how she shouldn't be thinking about boys. Oh yeah. Great. That's just fantastic. Chances are she'd be stuck in this loop for a long, long time.

No pressure. Right.

Ellis forced himself to relax, straightening up so he wasn't hunched over the gun, waving his free hand.

"No, no. You're good here, it's a free country an' all." Literally. You could pretty much squat wherever you damn well pleased, now, so long as you didn't mind constantly fending off the living dead. He cleared his throat a little, glancing back at the gun in his hand for a second before setting it down on the coffee table amongst the other weaponry. "'Sides, these pistols ain't much on conversation."
