So, Sweeney Todd is over and I miss it terribly.....it was such a fantastic show and I loved getting to see it so many times. Everyone else seemed to like it too, which is great. There was so much hard work put into it and the actors were amazing! It got me so pumped to try out and possibly be a part of shows starting next year - it's gonna be such a great feeling to put all of this learning to work.
Even though I miss it, it's so great to kinda have my life back. I've already gotten quite a bit accomplished today, even though all I wanted to do was take a nap. I wrote my RLC review, I did my Music theory, I read the play for Stagecraft, and I found plays for me and Veronique to find our comedic scene from. That and the Greek Theatre Project for Stagecraft due on Friday are what is causing a majority of my stress right now. As well as not having my room key. Somehow, I managed to lose it over the weekend and I've looked and asked everywhere it could possibly be, but it has yet to show up. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I'll find it soon because the replacement costs freaking $120, which sucks.
But to speak of happier things, my Dad was here on Friday :-D He flew in early and then came and met up with me at the Commons. lol.....my Dad ate lunch at the MT/AT table at the Commons, how funny is that? He loved it though. Then he went to theory and ear training with me and had a great time participating. Then, after we grabbed some dinner at Bertucci's, he came and saw Sweeney Todd and absolutely loved it. He said it made the tuition he's paying for me to go here a lot easier to swallow if I get to be a part of a production like that someday. I love my daddy, and miss him even more now that I've seen him. The good news - Spring Break is in 3 weeks! I think we're down to like 18 days. I had a family phone conversation with my mom, dad, and sister last night and it got me so excited to come home and spend time with them. I'm so proud of Emmy....she's handling this ACL surgery recovery with so much bravery. She's amazing.
Yesterday, after the last show, I came back here to the room and did some relaxing. It was so nice to just lay down....if only my mind had been clear of all I have to do! Anyway, Christie came over to watch Hustle and Flow with me and Jordan, then Veronique joined us for the last little bit. After they left for movement practice, I did some homework and watched Grey's Anatomy. Such an entertaining show.....The plan for the rest of Oscar Prep week is to watch the other movies I rented - Cinderella Man, The Constant Gardener, and North Country. Then tomorrow, Pride and Prejudice and Walk the Line come out and we'll pick those up after we return these. If anybody wants to come over and watch with us, just let me know :-) You're always welcome! Same for the actual Award Ceremony itself - that's the best part. By the way, while we're on the topic of movies.....Rent came out on DVD last week, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire comes out next week! Eeep.....looks like I'm gonna be dishing out some money - woot!
Today started out bad because I missed the shuttle because it left early, but then ballet actually put me in a good mood. But I know it has something to do with the fact that Ralph taught us a combination to the Carousel waltz from Carousel (obv.) And it was sooo much fun. I keep telling everyone how I get nostalgic when I get to dance to music from shows like that, or West Side Story (which we did last week) because I grew up listening to that music and watching those shows in the pit with my dad. It just always reminds me why I love performing....I'm such a nerd.
My day got even better when I found out that there's a professional theatre in Cinci doing Godspell and Ragtime this summer. The auditions are over my Spring Break and if I get into the show, I get paid :-) That'd be sweet.....I'm excited. But now, I need to prepare for that audition and get my resume typed up - whew, more work.....but good work. And the day still got better because I got to talk to my brother for a short bit....that was nice.
So, I need to get to bed because I'm pooped and still have so much to think about this week.....hopefully it'll go fast and I'll get everything done. Sorry it took such a long update to catch up and thanks for reading!
