“They’re awfully pretty, aren’t they” Elza laughed and tutted at Fran. “Always the pretty ones, ain’t it?”
“We are companions not for pleasures.” Fran replied, ears flicking in mild annoyance.
“Well, I bet your partner’s happy they’re followin’ the two of ye around.” Boot clad feet dangled in the air above the water.
“His attentions are elsewhere, fond of theatrics still.” Fran’s claws scraped across the rough wood of the bridge.
“He’s rubbed off on ye, hasn’t he?” Accent thickening.
“Implying?”
“Your attentions aren’t where they used to be. Why hide it?”
“I do not. It’s they who don’t see.”
