Ritz stood outside of the inn, hair wet and dripping, basking in the morning sun. She was finally starting to get used to the long, hot days here. Yesterday she'd fought three battles one after the other without needing a break, and this was the first morning that she hadn't needed to slather aloe goop over her bared arm from the blasted sunburn.
She glanced over at Shara, standing on the stone wall and stood a little straighter, a little taller... she blushed when she realized that she was imitating her new friend. The Viera had helped Ritz when they'd found her lost and irritable, but Shara had been one to invite her into the clan itself. Shara, so different from the giggling, gossipy, mousish girls that Ritz knew. Her strength came from herself--she needed no validation, no looks of approval from boys or teachers. Beautiful, flexible, and strong, like the bow she wielded.
She thrived in this hot, beautiful country... everything so opposite from the cold and snow and drab houses.
Ritz smiled to herself as she shut her eyes and turned her face back to the sun. Yes, she decided. She would be very happy here in Ivalice.
