Title: Restive
Chapter: 25
Setting: Post BDM
Rating: PG
Warnings: Mouseover Chinese'd Shakespeare, which is probably butchered.
Restive Organizational Post Simon needed an aspirin, and possibly a drink. The captain had said his piece, and it was extremely loud and full of some surprisingly inventive Chinese invective. The theme was clear: mind your own damn business. He was starting to wish, not for the first time, that he’d never laid eyes on this rickety boat and its feng le crew.
All he really wanted to do was make sure Kaylee was stable, then go to sleep. Instead, coming through the sitting area outside the infirmary, he found his progress blocked by his sister.
“Can’t,” River said, laying a hand across his chest, but not looking at him. “Won’t let you.”
“River.” Simon was starting to get annoyed by this whole affair. “I have to go in there. It’s my infirmary. It’s my job to make sure Kaylee’s all right.”
“Not right now.” Simon could only watch as Jayne stooped to kiss Kaylee gently on the forehead. He stalked off to his room, rolling his eyes.
River sighed. “Gui de cheng ai qing bu ceng yun xing shun li,” she said conversationally, to no one.
