description This is the first poem I submitted for MPs10 class, and the first poem I wrote in years. For this writing assignment, we were divided into several groups. Each group was to choose a human body system (i.e., digestive system, reproductive system, etc) and each member of the group was to pick a body part belonging to that system. My group picked the digestive system and I got the mouth. The poem is about how people take in things without giving a second thought. The message I'm trying to convey here is for people to think critically, using the mouth as a symbol of something that feeds our minds. We were limited to 8 syllables per line, 4 lines per stanza, and 8 stanzas. Each stanza should have the same rhyming scheme and no two consecutive stanzas could have the same rhyming scheme.

“Walang masamang tinapay”,
sabi mo 'yan araw-araw.
Kahit ano matutunaw
ng 'yong tiyang walang hanggan.
Bibig mo'y walang pagod.
Subo lang hanggang mabusog.
Bukas hanggang sa pumutok
tiyan mong naging matambok.
Sige, kain lang nang kain!
Payo ko'y 'wag mo nang dinggin.
Tikman mo ang tamis at asim
upang ikaw ay malasin.
Tuluy-tuloy mong paglamon,
kahit 'di lunas sa gutom
ang siya ding magiging lason
sa utak mong sobrang gutom.
