I'm actually updating this in the morning, which is so unusual. But that's because I have a five day weekend!! Since community colleges are strange we had a three day spring break in the middle of winter and now we have three days off for Easter. It's actually quite nice to have the break split up because with so little school left I'm not very motivated to do anything. Maybe this will give me enough time away that I'll be able to finish the school year strong. Actually, it'll probably only make me more lazy, but I can always dream. What I really need to do is bring my grades up in math so that I'll have an A in there. That's the only class I lack an A in, and it's really easy. I've already had precal once, and a semester of calculus, so I know everything, I just keep making stupid mistakes.
Last night was so much fun. Jessi (my sister) came home and we went out to eat with our parents, where we shared the two samplers at Ruby Tuesdays. There was this spring roll thing that was really good on her plate and then the chicken tenders were good as usual. I had cheese fries on mine but they weren't the best last night. I was supposed to be meeting Jake after we ate, and since I wasn't planning on staying long I asked if I could borrow her car. I was going to go over to his house and play spades with his family before a friend of his from Raleigh came. Jessi decided that she wanted to go too though, so we both went over to his house and played spades with him and his sister. It was me and Jake against Jessi and his sister for the first game. Needless to say, we won. I had been planning on leaving before Jake's friend arrived because I didn't really feel like meeting him, but since Jessi was there we ended up staying. When we finished the first game he played a game with us, this time boys against girls. And we won. That was a close game with some trade-offs on the lead though. I was worried when we started out in the negatives, but we came back and won it. After that game we left Jake's and came back home. We watched Side Fudomine's backstage and started on Switch.... but we didn't finish it. All in all it was a great night because we got to play spades (my favorite card game) and with different people than usual too.
Next thing I'm going to randomly select to write about is JET. I've been thinking about it quite a bit since my last post and I still really want to do it. Now the real test will be how do I feel in a year or so when I have to apply, but I still want to do it. It's too good of an opportunity to pass up. I was thinking about it though and wishing I didn't have so long before I could apply and started to wonder how I can use that time. What can I do now to first help me get accepted and then next to live there if I was selected. Language is one thing and I should be starting on that next year, provided there's still an open space when I register for classes. I do wonder if there's anything I can do with that now, like memorization for actually writing and reading the language. I don't know much, but I know there's a lot of memorization involved there, and I wonder if I could start that now. Besides that I don't really know what I could do. Any suggestion would be very helpful here.
I think I might use this time off to clean out my closets. Yes, closets. For some reason when we built this house my parents decided to have two closets in my room that take up a whole wall. It's kind of nice because I have clothes in one and random stuff in the other, but there's a whole lot of stuff in both I just need to get rid of. There's plenty of clothes that I never wear and I should give to the Salvation Army, plus a whole bunch of stuff that just trash. My mom makes fun of me because she doesn't know how I can clean out my closets as often as I do and still get rid of so much stuff. I usually end up cleaning them out two or so times a year and have a bag or more (usually more) of trash every time. Since I'll be moving out in a few months though, I think this is going to be the cleaning to end all cleanings. I plan to really get rid of everything that I don't use. I always end up saving everything and then throwing half of it away later, but I'm really going to throw it all away this time. I'm planning on figuring out what I'm taking with me to the apartment and then I'll probably get rid of the rest. If I'm not taking it with me, there's a very good chance that I'll never need or use it again (probably won't even remember that I have it) so I should just go ahead and get rid of it.
What's going to be really interesting in our apartment next year is where we put all of out books. I have one tall and one short bookcase full of books, and Jessi has one tall one. My parents would like for us to leave the books behind so we don't have to move all of those, but I don't want to leave them. We'll have to see if we have the room for them.
On that note, the only two books I've read recently were one on Japan's culture (a short overview) and The Art of the Steal. I've got quite a few waiting to be read that I got for Christmas, I just haven't yet. I've been reading all fanfiction recently and just haven't read any books. That's partly because I read mostly slash and it's harder to find those types of books in the categories I like. I do have a Robert Ludlum book that I started reading and haven't finished though (which is quite unusual) and Wild Swans, Kite Runner, and book about Shanghai, a fantasy book, and Les Miserables. I think those are all the ones that I haven't read yet. Which is a shame because I really do want to read them. OH and I have a few on Abraham Lincoln for an essay contest I might be entering.
And the last thing I will say, no the last two things I will say on this very long post are that I finally got accepted into ECU and I'm working again! I was never worried about getting accepted into ECU, but they kept losing things and I kept having to contact them. I applied back in December and they usually give a reply within a month; I just got mine this week after numerous emails with them. And I'm working again because the lady who works in the morning had back surgery Monday. I don't like that she had to have the surgery, but she's going to be out for four months, which is just perfect for me. Unless she comes back early, I'll be working through the end of July which works out because I'll be moving the first week in August. I might also have another opportunity to work in the morning by sharing a babysitting job with a friend of mine but I'm not sure if she's going to take it. If she does though, I'd work mornings and she'd work afternoons, which would have me working all day. I'm going to try and get into some online classes this summer too so that I can get ahead, so that would have me very busy this summer.
I think I'm going to change my icons around soon. I have a new layout which I like for the most part, but now I want to switch the icons out.
Okay that's it. I can't think of anything else to say. I'm the master of long journal entries! I just start typing and it goes from one thing to another and I end up with really long entries with many cuts to keep them from going on forever unless you want to read them. (well that was a long sentence) Now I need to go send an email to ECU though to try and set up a meeting with my academic adviser so I'll have to keep that short and concise.
