His first awareness was of flickering bolts of pain jolting through his chest. He had no idea what was happening or why it hurt so bad.
Next he realized his limbs were folded uncomfortably. He was crammed into some tight dark space and there was barely any air to breathe.
Panic began to permeate its way through his mind. Tight closed space. Darkness. Pain. There was nothing here he particularly liked and all he wanted was OUT!
With a sudden burst of terrified strength, he threw himself upward. His back slammed once, twice, three times against the ceiling holding him in.
His prison burst open and he half flung himself out of what seemed to be a large case. He was about halfway out when his strength failed him and he slumped exhausted over the side. The case edge dug uncomfortably into his flesh, but he couldn't find it in him to move yet.
