January 20 is/was a lot of things. We have a new president, it's my birthday, and since my birthday is so close to new year's day, I just celebrate the new year on my birthday. Last year was a lot of things, but mostly a year of self discovery. A lot of good things happened... a lot of bad things happened. A lot of the time, I was asking myself if it really mattered if I did anything or not. Trying to impact those around you in a positive way is a tricky game. Yet the pillars held, and the flesh was strong, spirit and hope prevailed and here we are... the beginning of another year.
New chances, new choices. Still learning every day, if not anything I want to know, items of use nonetheless. We have days ahead that could reel and twist any way if we aren't careful.
Enough of that. I have a job now, essentially hired by one of my professors to work at a startup company in Burlington. The way it stands, I could be there for a decent amount of time. They have me more or less working on fixing compatibility issues in Internet Explorer 6, which I don't know why anyone would choose to support in the first place. The pay is... not great, but better than making napkins, or working at Brooks, or sitting behind the counter at a video store and not getting paid.
College life seems to be going well, I'm pretty well set on a move to the Williston VTC campus for the fall semester. Reasons being, it's closer to work, and closer to things that I don't have in Randolph (stores, theater, life), while not being all that much farther from home.
Chances are, I might have a car before too very long. If you ask me, it's about damn time. As cost effective as it may be to bum rides until eternity, it's getting to be annoying both for me and other people. Since I've got a job that might support keeping a car running and insured, I figured why not? Alright, it's not as simple as that. My aunt and uncle are essentially giving me a truck, but have offered to sell the truck for something more fuel efficient. I'll have to pay a not-insignificant contribution, as well as insurance, and whatnot, and I have to do a fair amount of financial planning beforehand if I don't expect to land myself in some depth focused feces. Either way, it's positive change, all-around. That is, unless you heed the possibility that this may just be another cyclic twist in my life, and next on my plate will be bowel cancer. Haha. Joking.
