i've been watching episodes of "
kyle xy" online and i'm truly surprised at how far a national mainstream television network has come.
- exhibit A: a whole episode about students rioting for the right for same-sex couples to attend their dance
- exhibit B: parents who smoke pot and get found out by their kids, the mature conversation that ensues afterwards
- exhibit C: dealing with teen sex and how it's ok to be a virgin and ok to have sex as long as you're ready, teen girls 'revirginizing' and looking for more personality in themselves than just boys and sex
- exhibit D: a BOY SLUT in the school labelled as such!
- exhibit E: a character, playing a highly intelligent clone, asking himself questions about faith in church. stating what he didn't understand and what he didn't. questioning without insulting.
all this show needs is more PoC. so far, one character doesn't look straight out of TeenVogue and her parents are dykes (refer episode dealing with exhibit A)
man, american television is not all evil.
ok, so if you like sci-fi and cute teen shows, you can watch 'kyle xy' online
here.
speaking of good tv... has anyone watched CBC's adaptation of Douglas Coupland's
JPod? all episodes are also free and available online.
