Best Offense = Good Defense

Yes, today's post is mostly about guns, self-defense, and legislated and/or intellectual cowardice...with a few random links of "ordinary" fun stuff thrown in. =>

From guns:

A potential self-defense scenario, where fortunately, cool heads and calculated decisions saved both parties from a violent confrontation. The thread also contained an excellent quote from jbarros-

Those of us who are willing to deal in physical confrontations, either through firearms or otherwise, by making it known, or even making known that the threat of the same doesnt cause us to cower, is sufficient to stop all bullies, and some thugs who are more than bullies.

More great stuff along the same lines, from gunselfdefense:

Woman Who Shot Intruder 3 Times Talks To KNBC

Best quote? Here:

"Never in a million years, did I think I would use (the gun) -- never. And whatever higher power, whatever gave me the strength to pull that trigger ... You're looking at him or me. My life or his life. I was not going to get raped. I was not going to get murdered. There was no way -- and I didn't," Teter said.

From skreidle:

Dude 'lives' in the Mall of America for a week, shenanigans ensue

And a new niche in the genre: LOLsheviks!

Bird gets literally plucked by predator bird; looks a lot worse than it is.

Strictly no photography; pictures taken in areas specificially prohibiting said photography.

Speaking of prohibitions:

Outrage and Kudos, in which Scott sez:

...a bunch of cowardly SHEEP in Congress and State Legislatures and city councils and corporate offices make arbitrary policies that unjustly infringe on the natural rights that even animals have, and because that culture of unnatural passivity has permeated all of society, REAL PEOPLE DIE.

A list of notable events where "crazy badguys" put down by "normal" armed citizens.

More details on one individual example of self-defense listed above

Uncut because I find it intriguing- from azulskies:

Lawyer depression is a big thing for them.

Curiouser and curiouser:

Two-thirds of 1,500 Oregon attorneys surveyed by the Oregon Attorney Assistance Program said they'd had no exposure before law school to the day-to-day life of a lawyer; if allowed to start over, 30% said they'd choose a different field.

Edit ('cause dangit, I have to), graphical amusement via skreidle:

Polar bear attack, caught on camera! Luckily this attack was survivable.

Spider overtakes Atlantis space shuttle by sheer scale. =D

That is all.

link collections, pictures, outrage, entertainment, self-defense, wow: world of wackos, guns
