yuuuuletide!

i didn't really like my letter last year, so i made a pact to fix/remedy that this year. i hope it's useful! i did say one good thing last time, though: i'll be excited about anything you write because it was written for me and that, in it of itself, is awesome.

likes genfic, character studies, non-linear plot structures, awkward situations, age differences, and so on. i know that's in no way cohesive, but i can enjoy almost anything if it's written thoughtfully enough.

dislikes character death, dub-con/non-con, dom/sub relationships, etc. i don't like ridiculously dark fic or not-at-all vanilla pwp (boring, i know). these are the only guidelines, if you will, that i ask you stick to.

helpful links: here is my delicious (i use it mostly for fic and save pretty selectively) and here is my mubi (basically, films i've watched and loved because i am a total film-nerd. if that sort of thing isn't of use to you, feel free to ignore it).

tintin
professor calculus, captain haddock

i'm all about the genfic, here. there is a complexity to both characteres that the comics never really explore -- haddock's alcoholism, the extent of calculus's genius -- that i would love to read about. it doesn't matter how you go about this (or if you go about this at all, actually). if you want to set it in a book (my favourites are the secret of the unicorn and the castafiore emerald) or not, that's up to you. i only ask that it doesn't go into pairing territory (i picked haddock and calculus to create some creative breathing room, not as a pairing). i'm just really interested in reading tintin from the point-of-view of another character.

thin man (1934)
nick charles, nora charles

okay, okay. i admit it: nick and nora charles are my favourite film!couple ever (they pretty much won that title within ten mintues of being onscreen together). i started watching the films back in summer and like, i cannot express how much i love their give-and-take, their sarcasm, and their awareness of each other. they fit. they play off each other's stubborness and hangovers (casual enabling, much?) and witticisms. in terms of fic, i would love to see anything that examines their relationship or their individual idiosyncracies. that can be in the context of the film (actually, any of the first three films, if you like), or just day-to-day. however! if you have some other grand, sweeping idea for a new mystery or what-have-you, i would be more than fine with that, too.

arsenal (fc) rpf
robin van persie, thomas vermaelen, jack wilshere, wojciech szczesny

i don't even know where to start! like, i adore arsenal and, as of late, they've been a never-ending source of glee both on and off the pitch. so, to avoid accidently recouting my love for this stupid club in essay- or haiku-form, let's talk about fic. feel free to combine the above characters/people any which way you choose (i, personally, am a little bit in love with robin/thomas, but it doesn't matter). i mostly picked them because they are the most epic of twitter-wielders and provide extremely awesome fodder. observe:

in which jack informs the world that robin and thomas are lovers
in which jack is about to undergo leg surgery and robin scores a hundred goals for arsenal
in which jack loves all his teammates. see: surgery
in which woj criticises jack's choice of contestants on the x factor
in which thomas renews his contract and is told to get a new car
in which thomas's car breaks down and robin agrees to drive him to training
in which thomas buys a new car
in which thomas and robin go on a date and robin is a sushi-stealer

please don't feel you have to write fic based on any of that, though; i just think that they're pretty good examples of how the boys interact with one another. because, really, i would read absolutely anything: gen, friendship, relationship, porn. ALL OF IT. tone-wise, i'd like happy-or-optimistic!fic, though (mostly because the summer transfer season was hell and the beginning of the season wasn't that great, either, and now everyone is just really happy all the time and i can't get over it). but, if you end up moving more towards angst, that's fine. i just ask for a hopeful-ish ending. there is very little i wouldn't read about arsenal.

in conclusion: wojciech szczesny exists.

i wish you the best of luck and your own happy yuletide! :D
