Smorgasbord

Lots of things to talk about, so I'm doing this smorgasbord style! (I was going to discuss my OK Cupid updates, but decided that would be best left for its own entry!)

Last Saturday, the 13th, I had dinner at Red Lobster with Cameron and Krista. The last time the three of us had dinner together was about a year ago at P.F. Chang's. I had the talapia with roasted vegetables. It came in a bag (there's a word for that, I know) and had a wine sauce. It was really good. I usually have shell fish at Red Lobster, but I wanted to try something different this time. Cameron and I both had a mango and strawberry alcoholic drink. Krista is on a diet so she just had water with her salmon and green beans and broccoli. Cameron had some crab and shrimp dish - he said he wasn't even sure what he ordered, lol. When our waitress brought us our cheesy biscuits, Cameron and I were really excited and Krista was like, "Eww, I hate those, you guys can have those." I told her she was crazy because the cheesy biscuits at Red Lobster are so good!

We gossiped about Lisa, this girl we used to work with at HP and nobody liked her. Krista said she found out that Lisa's boyfriend, Tim, who she always talked about and who she claimed was this hot young Air Force guy was actually a local cop in his 40s who was balding, lol. Guess the pic of the young guy Lisa was always showing us wasn't even him. Krista and Lisa used to work together at the same place after they left HP, but a gay guy became head chef and Lisa quit because she didn't want to work under a gay guy. What a bitch!! Krista is friends with this guy (he was the one who was at the movies with her when Cameron and I saw her at the same theater as us when we saw Oz) and I guess he hated Lisa and was always talking about how she has an ass growing on her ass, lol. I wouldn't call Lisa obese or anything, but she is very short and very curvy. I guess she lost a lot of weight, then gained it back again. Krista made a comment about how karma's a bitch, then I added, "It's a fat bitch!" and Cameron and Krista burst out laughing and Krista said that made her night. LOL, I'm glad I could help!

Oh yeah, so I finally learned the story of why Cameron and Danielle (who used to be one of his best friend and is Scott's ex....he was brought up because Krista mentioned he texted him about something pertaining to the Air Force because her cousin is part of it too and she was curious about something pertaining to the Air Force....Cameron and Krista still don't know about my history with Scott. I figured it's water under the bridge now and even though neither are really close friends with him, he is their friend and it would be awkward if I brought up what happened between us). Cameron says he was at her house hanging out with her and her sister and when he was getting ready to leave, he said good-bye to her sister, but didn't say good-bye to her because she was on the phone and she got really pissed that he didn't say good-bye to her and accused him of liking her sister better then her. I just laughed because that was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Cameron says they haven't been friends since. I've known that he had a falling out with her, but never knew what happened and I was expecting something way better than that! Then Cameron was telling me how she once screamed at him in Target.

Afterwards we went to Dairy Queen which was right across the street and Cameron had a frozen hot chocolate (the best thing he's ever put in his mouth, he claimed, although he said this one wasn't as good as the last one he had and that this particular location didn't know how to make them!) and I had a peanut parfait. It was a lot bigger than I was anticipating, but it was good. Krista showed us a Youtube clip where Richard Simmons was on an episode of Whose Line Is It Anyway and he was a jet ski and it looked like he was giving a blow job to the guy who was supposed to be "on" the jet ski, lol. This brought up a hilarious conversation between the three of us of the logistics of giving a blow job while on a jet ski, lol. Cameron told us we were over thinking it and that the jet ski didn't have to be moving while the act was happening. His voice is kinda loud and carries and Krista tells him to be quiet because there are kids near us and then he gets into this argument with us about how his voice isn't loud and we're both like, "Yes, it is, Cameron!" He definitely has a loud voice because he posted a video of him on Facebook where he's at Mics and his friend is singing Party in the USA and he's dancing and singing and even though he's not singing into a mic, you can still hear him! LOL! And Mic's, being a karaoke bar, is a loud place! So yeah, he has a loud voice!

I usually work 11-7 at my job, but Miguel, who works the morning shift (6:30-2:30) with Brittany, was in Mexico for the last month. Stephanie hired (like literally someone at the last minute) to work Miguel's shift. She was supposed to start the week after Miguel left when the younger girls who work the evening shift were on spring break and were working the morning shift. The plan was for them to help train her, then she and Brittany would work morning and I would come in right before lunch like I always do. But this girl's grandpa died and because of that she never showed up. So Stephanie had Tate and me work the morning shifts (Tate worked the days I had off) and I had to get up at 6. (I showered the night before and didn't even bother putting in my contacts! Luckily I don't live too far from where I work so by the time I got there it would just be 6:30). Working mornings sucks because there are only two people and you have to take their drink AND food orders (we have nurses who help us with drinks at lunch and dinner and there are three of us serving those meals - usually! Because there was no extra person to help us, there were only two of us at lunch too). We get the early people first and once we knock those out, there's a bit of a lull and we have time to pick up dirty dishes, but then once 8:15 hits, we get everyone and it gets insane. The closer it gets to 9 (the end of breakfast), the more people come in. Loy (a bit of a high-maintenance resident) was getting upset the other morning when we were really busy last week and she had to wait and I had to explain to her there are only two of us and about 25 residents and we have to get drinks and food ready. It just really pisses me off when they see we're busy and then still bitch about it. And then it really annoyed me when I saw Stephanie sitting at one table chatting with a couple residents when she could have been helping us by going around with coffee or something. She had to see how busy we were! Thank goodness Donna, from the front office, came in and saw we were busy and asked if she could help and went around with coffee. Luckily most residents order the same thing everyday (though they might change it up for the weekend since they make omelets) so I would always usually get the same residents every day while Brittany got others. For instance, Dale always gets Raisin Bran with a banana and rye toast; Bill gets Raisin Bran with fruit (any kind), wheat toast, two poached eggs, bacon and sausage; Cathy and Ruth both get rye toast (one slice for Cathy, two for Ruth); Jean gets Raisin Bran (sometimes Cheerios) with extra raisins and seven prunes: Katherine gets a waffle and sausage; Nancy gets toast, bacon, and scrambled eggs; Mary Fenlon gets grapefruit, scrambled eggs, and oatmeal with ice to cool it down; Bev gets oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins; Carl gets scrambled eggs, hash browns, prunes, and an English muffin; Mildred gets a waffle and sausage; Joanne gets a waffle and bacon; Marie gets half a banana and butter to eat with the pastry she usually brings: Darlene gets toast with peanut butter and her husband gets wheat toast with peanut butter and sausage; Mary Ellen, the Queen herself gets two poached eggs, sausage, raisin toast, grapefruit, peaches, a banana, and Shredded Wheat...so you can see, I have memorized a lot of their morning orders! Once I knew what they liked, I could just get it ready. Miguel came back this Monday, thank God! No more waking up early!!

On the evening of Tuesday, April 9, I was home watching Paranorman on an already drizzly, rainy day, when all of a sudden I hear really loud sounds and look out my sliding doors to see that there is hail about the size of small rocks coming down! I was so glad I was inside. It was probably hailing for a good ten minutes. There are definitely dents on my car, but the thing is I have my Dad's old car and he got hail damage a couple years back, so a couple more dents aren't going to matter to me. I was walking around the neighborhood a couple days later and noticed a lot of guys on roofs of houses and roofing repair trucks in front of homes. I was walking past a Le Petite Academy one afternoon around three and noticed a small bus going to the school and at first I thought it was there to pick kids up, but I saw three boys get out and go back in the school. I was listening to my headphones and hear this young voice yelling, "Hi! Hi! Hi!" At first I thought it was directed to the 3 boys who were entering the school, but then I looked up and saw this cute little girl waving at me through a window - the window was up because it was a nice day, but there was a screen. She was calling to me, lol. So I smiled and waved at her as I walked by.

I took Milo to the vet last week and he appeared "happy and healthy", but the only thing was that he had gingivitis (because he never brushes his teeth - because he's a cat!) and the vet suggested I get a thorough cleaning for him, but I'm not sure if I want to do that because it's too expensive and I feel it's unnecessary - Mac also had gingivitis and he lived to be 18. She suggested I try brushing his teeth a few times a week and follow in a few months later. She gave me this rubber "finger brush" with small bristles and poultry flavored toothpaste (it smells nasty). LOL, I asked her if I was supposed to use Crest and then she told me about the toothpaste...I guess it would make sense that you wouldn't use Crest on an animal as they probably wouldn't like that minty flavor! Anyway, I tried brushing his teeth/gums the other day and yeah, that was a bit of a disaster. Do you know how difficult it is to hold a wriggling cat with one arm and trying to brush his teeth with the other? I don't think I will be setting up that follow up appointment! I know she is going to pressure me into paying $350 that I don't need to spend on my cat's dental care and if I don't, I'm just going to look like a bad pet owner, but unless it's affecting his health, I am not going to spend that much money.

Speaking of spending lots of money on pets....I feel bad for Bill (my brother) because his 11 year old dog, Maggie, wasn't her usual self so they took her to the vet and had her x-rayed and found a tumor on her spleen. The vet said that if they didn't have it removed, she could have anywhere from one week to one month to live. :-( But if she had surgery (which is what they did), she could have one month to a year to live without any pain....hopefully she will get a good year in, but unfortunately it sounds like she will more likely get more tumors. Poor Maggers :-(
