Fireworks and Sad Potatoes

Hi, I love Kevin.

Kextrii: But... that's funny... do you think they call emo kids potatoes in Japan?
Kextrii: because they're imo
fenlings: oh wow
fenlings: YOU WIN
fenlings: you TOTALLY win at puns
fenlings: ::hands you prize of sad potato::
Kextrii: *bakes potato in your microwave of sarcasm*

The best part is I don't think I was being sarcastic. I was raised to think puns are cool! What do you want from me?

So, it's Saturday afternoon, I'm mostly almost packed (omg NO ROOM in my tiny carry-on), I went shopping for a few last-minute items (victory!), and saw signs that our summer matsuri is tonight! Who knew?

So good timing for that; I shall plan to make an appearance.

*******

I've been geeking out with paranoid_ninja lately over aim. He is SUCH a fanboy, it is SO DARLING.

paranoid_ninja: omg omg omg
fenlings: omg?
paranoid_ninja: it's a sga-sg1 crossover!!!!!
paranoid_ninja: << insert girly squeal here >>

So we spend a lot of time trying to figure out the history and coherence of the Stargate Universe (which I know a fair bit about, thanks to fics and Stargate Wiki. Though I think I've watched a total of maybe 6 episodes of SG-1 and 3 episodes of SGA.) We have a lot to talk about because there is a lot of stuff that doesn't make sense! Hello, bad sci-fi!

And as if that weren't enough, just wait till we start talking about a show that I *do* watch. He's been rewatching season 3 of Babylon 5 lately, and talking about it with him just FILLS ME WITH JOY. I've noticed that talking about Babylon 5 makes me maybe the happiest of any show. ::HEART:: I think it's because I spent hours and hours just *studying* and *crossreferencing* canon in high school. You should see my copies of The Babylon File 1 and 2, the margins just *covered* with writing--my questions and comments and opinions. (Actually maybe you shouldn't see them as they are kind of mouldy-smelling from the Fire, because I just HAD to have them with me ALWAYS at college in case I had a sudden B-5 canon question while watching Yami no Matsuei or something...)

I think it was on jekesta's journal where someone said that the reason there wasn't much B-5 fanfic is because people want the REAL answer, because JMS does *have* real answers, he *knows* the universe and he knows what things happen and why. Obviously the next place to go would be the professional "fanfiction" of the books, which are JMS-endorsed, mostly, and are handily reviewed in The Babylon File. I read the Telepath Trilogy (I was very impressed), some of the Centauri Trilogy, and I think some others, but I haven't been keeping up with them. I should check them out some more. Because what I really want is something that deals with the Continuing Space Adventures of Lyta and G'Kar, and then a book/movie/series about the goddamn Telepath War that we never get any details about. There's *such* dramatic potential in *all* these unanswered questions. (What happened with David and the Keeper? I'm still so worried about that. What were the details of Sheridan and Delenn in the Centauri prison? Narn telepaths! Do we get them? The further development of all the worlds in a post-Shadow-and-Vorlon and post-Valen's-predictions universe. Earth's various stages as seen in "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars." The *first* Shadow War! The life of Valen! The Book of G'Kar! What about Lennier's personal journey of redemption?) Books can explore the old territory and, even with totally new actors, a show could deal with interesting and unexplored aspects of the universe. Like Crusade was doing. But instead of exploring interesting things in a dramatically compelling way, they do that crappy Legend of the Rangers shit that I can't even tell you what it was about.

ANYWAY this is all to say that as many *problems* as I have with it, I LOVE talking about the B-5 universe! Hit me up for that ANY TIME.

b-5, rl
