Thor

Thor was SO GOOD OMG.

It was so hilarious. The play at the beginning lmao.

But it stayed true to everyone's character really well. Heimdall was awesome! Hela was of course amazing. Even Skurge had an arc. Odin was the best and most sympathetic portrayal yet. I liked all the new characters as well, especially Korg! (And lol bye to the Warriors Three.)

But Thor and Loki had the best character growth! It was such a meta moment when Thor was like "I trust you, you betray me, it's always the same. Heroes are supposed to have growth." It's so true that none of these characters have grown at all since the first film. And while that might be understandable for beings with such a long lifespan, it's not good filmmaking. Now Thor has grown into his full powers, and is a true leader to his people. Thor talked a lot about what a hero is and was consciously trying to become one while failing a little, so I thought that was great. The relationship moments with Loki were so good and sweet and funny. Loki could have stayed on the Grand Master's planet or gone anywhere, but he showed up at the end to save Asgard, heeeeeeeeee!

I liked that it explored the background of Odin's rule and Asgard's dominance. But for such a realm-conquering "people", there didn't seem to be that many of them! I'm sure someone could do some math on the size of that gangplank and the amount of time that scene lasted, but there didn't seem to be more than a few thousand. Did the rest just die, or do they not have children often because they live forever, or do other Asgardians reside on their colonized worlds or...?

The visual style was so breathtaking. You could tell it was like some artwork in a book of Norse legends for the Thor + dragon chase, and the Thor + Hela fight. The Grand Master's neon soldiers were soooo cool looking. And the whole style of the titles was awesome 80s throwback. The use of music too was amazing and hilarious (Immigrant Song, Pure Imagination). Like, if you're not going to go full out, why bother? This franchise is not about subtle realism.

In conclusion, Taika Waititi is a genius and amazing.
