7 July - Little Green Hitchhiker
Monday's photo isn't quite as exciting... I ended up with a little hitchhiker on my car who just wouldn't take a hint.
I first spotted him clinging to my windshield on the drive from PCC on Avondale into downtown Redmond. I figured once I got parked that he'd hop off... but no matter how much I tried to shoo him away, he would just scuttle away to another part of the car. After I got done with my shopping, he was still there and so I headed out again... and at my next stop, there he was. By the time I got home, he was gone and I'm really hoping he survived jumping off the moving car (and I really did try to get him off while I was parked).
I suspect he may have been really young... it's hard to tell from this photo (since I took it from inside the car), but he was a really bright, but almost translucent, green. Not exactly standard grasshopper colors (and it's possible that he is some other sort of insect that just looks grasshopper-ish... I should ask my sister-in-law, the Entomologist).
