She stares into the girl's dark eyes as she pulls back, her own heartbeat hammering in her ears. She can barely believe what just happened. She was happy for Roxie when she told her she'd moved on from the bully, but she'd never in a million years thought she might be the one to whom her affection had shifted. Her tongue slides over her fangs as she leans back, too, feeling Shogo behind her, hearing him gurgling, and realizing that every decision she makes no longer just impacts her future.
She has Shogo to think about, and Roxie too. Despite her tough skin, despite her powers, despite everything she's been through at such a young age, much like Jubilee herself, she is still fragile. Heat flames inside her when Monet calls to her, but it's a different kind of heat than which Roxie just ignited. She can still taste her lips on hers. She wants more, but does she dare?
She steps unconsciously back, carefully muttering words meant to neither excite Roxie nor hurt her. She has so much to think about. She doesn't want to be hurt again, and she doesn't want Shogo or Roxie to be hurt again either. But she doesn't know if she's ready for another relationship, let alone to love a woman, or a girl, or a woman. She doesn't even know what Roxie is any more. She blinks, mutters another apology, and almost runs toward the mission, which couldn't've come at a better time.
