Title: Not So Lonely

Prompt: #313 'wait'
Length: 250
Notes: in an alternate universe, Sif was stranded on Earth and became Jane's friend (and lover).
Being stranded on Earth hadn't been such a bad thing, in the end. The Lady Sif would occasionally think of her home, distant and difficult to reach now that the Bifrost had been destroyed.
There were more immediate things to contemplate, however.
Stretching a little, Sif pressed her mouth to the curve of Jane's shoulder, then smiled a little as that worthy mumbled in her sleep. The night had passed swiftly for them, words exchanged as well as bodies, and Sif was rather pleased with how replete she felt even now.
Pushing up on an elbow, she watched the shadows play over Jane's face; perhaps a dream, perhaps something else. Lines etched into Jane's skin told of the long hours she still poured into the project, the one which would allow Sif to finally return home. Sometimes, Sif thought she pushed herself too hard.
Letting herself relax, she curled closer, pillowing her head on Jane's shoulder and curving her arm over her waist. Comfort or possession, she couldn't say.
She refused to consider the matter of returning home. It could wait for the reality of a new Bifrost. For Sif believed that Jane and her brilliance could once again link their worlds.
Something to consider when they were not in Jane's bed, she decided, closing her eyes again and breathing deeply. Sleep would see her fit for the coming day, when there would be Coulson to argue with and Jane's assistant to confer with over her newest selection of music.
