It's midnight before she comes to lay down with her. They can't make love; they don't even dare try for they both know Bo wouldn't be able to stop before she killed her. Kenzi turns over and wraps her arms lovingly around her partner, trying to ignore the pungent smell of wolf lingering from her hair, skin, and clothes. Dyson's had her again in a way Kenzi fears she'll never be able to, but she tells herself it doesn't matter. She's the one to whom she always turns this time of night, the one she lets hold and comfort her, even if they can't make love, and for tonight and too many more to come, it will have to be enough.
Kenzi doesn't do girls, but it's not because she doesn't want to. It's because she can't -- at least, not yet --, and every night, as she holds Bo close to her heart, she prays to a God who she knows doesn't care for her chance to come and for tomorrow night to be different, to be able to love Bo as completely with her body as she already does with her heart and soul. Then she shuts her eyes and clings to the hope of the dreams in which she truly has Bo and to her lovely, supple, and lethal body as close as she dares.
And as they dream together of making love, Bo relishes Kenzi's touch and holding her close more than any other touch she's ever known.
