Generic Author Note: I joined up at challenge #34, so I've gone back and written for all the ones I missed. There's a mix of She Spies, CSI, Charmed, Hex and Harry Potter in these posts & I have one more post to do with drabbles for challenges #33 & #39. These posts have #1-#32, excluding #30, which I couldn't find! All 250 words. Watch out for the mild incest in the Charmed drabbles, and spoilers for the current season in anything Hex. Sorry for the multi-post spam!
Title: As Difficult As Possible.
Fandom: CSI.
Pairing: Catherine/Sara.
W/Count: 250.
Challenge: #23, apologies.
*
Catherine turns up on her door with a bottle of wine and an apologetic smile. Sara debates not letting her in but decides against it, waving her inside and closing the door behind her. She absently wonders who's babysitting Lindsey, but shrugs the thought off -- she won't ask, she refuses to care that much.
"What do you want?" Sara asks bluntly, crossing her arms and staring at her.
Catherine sighs under her gaze but meets her eyes steadily. Sara's already tempted to forgive her, simply to remove one of the many job-related stresses from her life, but she holds her ground. Catherine's been a bitch to deal with lately and she's tired of being walked on.
"I came to say I'm sorry, Sara. Why do I get the feeling you're going to make that as difficult as possible?" Catherine sets the bottle down on the table, leaning against a chair and crossing her own arms, mirroring Sara's pose.
"Like you haven't been making everything as difficult as possible lately?" Sara glares at her. Until this minute, she hadn't intended on making it hard at all.
"Look, I said I was sorry," Catherine's voice is sharp, making Sara roll her eyes. She always thinks it'll be that easy, that a simple sorry will do. "What do you want from me?"
"I want you to treat me like your… whatever the hell we are!" Sara snaps back.
Catherine sighs and Sara thinks that this 'apology' is going to take a while.
Title: Rainstorms.
Fandom: Hex.
Pairing: Thelma/Ella.
W/Count: 250.
Challenge: #24, wet.
*
"Now there's a look I like," Thelma smirks, lifting an eyebrow and fighting the urge to lick her lips as she sprawls across Ella's bed, propping her head on her hands.
"Leave it out, Thelma," Ella scowls, struggling to shrug out of her coat, dripping water all over the floor. "The weather's positively evil today."
That coat clearly wasn't meant for rainstorms, Thelma thinks in amusement, paying special attention to the way Ella's wet clothes cling to her skin and trying to ignore the fact that a rain-drenched Ella is playing havoc with her feelings.
"Maybe it's Azazeal's doing," she comments lightly, her eyes never leaving Ella's body as she strips off her top and skirt, dropping them into a soggy pile.
"I doubt it," Ella says acidly, turning to face her and fixing her with a glare. "What am I, a free show?"
"Oh, don't mind me," Thelma says, grinning at her. "I'll close my eyes, I promise."
"Somehow I don't believe you." Ella rolls her eyes, walking over to the wardrobe, shivering in only her underwear.
Thelma enjoys the fact that Ella is unselfconscious about her body, especially when it gives her the opportunity to appreciate it.
"Can't imagine why that is," she mutters absently, her attention elsewhere.
Ella snorts in amusement. "I'm sure."
She retrieves black pants and a deep purple shirt, pulling them on quickly and rubbing her arms to warm up. Thelma offers her a towel for her hair, and silently gives thanks for rainstorms.
Title: Five Moments Ginny & Luna Never Shared.
Fandom: Harry Potter.
Pairing: Ginny/Luna.
W/Count: 250 (5 x 50)
Challenge: #25, brown sugar.
*
[1] Luna offers Ginny a hand and she takes it, letting Luna lead her onto the dance-floor. Charlie and Fleur's wedding is magical; being here with Luna only enhances the feeling. She doesn't want it to end and, securely cradled in Luna's arms, it feels as though it never will.
[2] "Morning," Ginny murmurs sleepily, rubbing her eyes as she staggers to the kitchen table and collapses in a chair. Luna sits down opposite her, looking fresh and alert, placing a cup of coffee on the table. She sets down a bowl of brown sugar as Ginny smiles her thanks.
[3] They kiss in the centre of Hogsmeade, unbothered by the people who stare as they walk past them. Neither of them have any shame about their relationship; they love each other and they don't care who knows. Their classmates can say whatever they want, they'll still have each other.
[4] They stand together, still injured and broken; Ginny supporting the weakened Luna as they say their final good-byes to Ron, Hermione and Harry, together even in death. What remains of Ginny's family stand around them, aged by the dark war-torn days they've survived, as she holds Luna's hand tightly.
[5] Ginny lies on her bed, crying silently. One stupid mistake cost her the most important thing in her life, and she'd give anything to take it back. Giving in to old feelings for Hermione, letting herself be Hermione's experiment, cost her Luna. She can't accept that, she needs her.
Title: Couple-Conned Out.
Fandom: She Spies.
Pairing: Cassie-centric, Cassie/DD.
W/Count: 250.
Challenge: #27, homesickness.
*
They seem to have taken on a lot of 'couple-cons' lately, so many that she's beginning to wonder if Cross is finding them on purpose, just so they have to work together. They've been married six times now, under six different aliases, and the novelty has long since worn off.
They've been running this con for three days, posing as their sixth couple -- The Andersons -- and she's starting to feel homesick. She wants a day off to spend in her own place but right now the prospect of that seems far away.
She picks up her cellphone and dials DD's number; she and Shane are parked outside, keeping watch for anything suspicious, but so far the whole thing has been a complete waste of time.
"Rummy!" Shane's voice cries in the background as DD answers and immediately protests, calling Shane a cheater as Shane bursts into laughter.
"Sorry, Cass," DD apologises when she remembers Cassie's on the other end of the line. "Shane's cheating at Rummy--"
"Am not!"
"Are too!" DD returns, adding into the phone, "How's it going? Anything happen yet?"
"Not yet," Cassie tells her, wishing fiercely that she was out there with DD instead of in here with Cross, and feeling irrationally jealous of Shane. "I miss you."
"We miss you too," DD tells her softly. "This can't last much longer."
Cassie hears Cross calling her and sighs. "I hope not. I have to go."
"See you soon," DD says, before Cassie hangs up.
Title: Methods of Relaxation.
Fandom: She Spies.
Pairing: DD-centric, DD/Shane.
W/Count: 250.
Challenge: #28, socks.
*
"What are you doing?" Shane asked incredulously, pausing at the door and looking into the room. DD looked up from her seat on her bed, her expression mildly puzzled.
"What do you mean?"
"It looks like you're organising your socks?" Shane specified, walking into the room and taking a seat at the dresser. "You get weirder by the day, girl, I swear."
"It helps me relax," DD said, objecting to the criticism. "There's nothing wrong with an organised sock drawer, Shane."
"I can think of better ways to make you relax," Shane said with a grin, eyes sparkling with amusement. DD can't help but smile back at her, a shiver running through her body as some of Shane's 'ways' came to mind.
"I guess I'm open to other methods of relaxation," she said airily, tucking a few stray pairs of socks back into the drawer and standing up, picking up the drawer to slide it back into the dresser. "Did you have anything specific in mind?"
"How about this?" Shane suggested, standing up and pulling DD towards her to kiss her, her fingers tracing gentle patterns across available skin.
"That works," DD murmured when they separated to breathe, sliding her arms around Shane's waist and pressing closer. "It's nearly as much fun as organising my socks."
"Nearly as-- oh, you're going to pay for that," Shane threatened through a grin. "I am not taking second place to a pile of socks."
"Who said the socks were number one?" DD laughed.
Title: Day At The Beach.
Fandom: She Spies.
Pairing: mild Cassie/DD.
W/Count: 250.
Challenge: #31, august.
*
"I can't believe Cross actually gave us a day off," Shane comments, stretching out in the sunshine. The beach is a hum of activity around them, busy enough to be fun but not busy enough to be overcrowded.
"I know, we must have done something right," DD says, rubbing sunscreen into her arms. "It's the perfect day for it too, the weather's gorgeous."
"Perfect beach day," Shane says happily, sitting up and reaching for the binoculars she stored next to her towel when they arrived. She aims them at the sea, searching out their favourite eye-candy as DD joins Cassie.
"Let's go out for dinner later," Cassie suggests, sweeping her hair over one shoulder so DD can sunscreen her back. "There's a new Mexican place that just opened, we could try it out."
"Can't," Shane shakes her head. "I have a date."
"Anyone we know?" DD asks, smoothing the last of the cream into Cassie's skin.
"Just this guy I met at the gym, he's nice enough, nothing special," Shane shrugs. "We'll see how it goes."
"And we'll look forward to hearing all about it," Cassie says, smiling at Shane, then glancing behind her at DD. "What about it, Deeds? Mexican?"
"I love Mexican food," DD says, recapping the bottle. "I'm definitely in." She hands the sunscreen to Cassie, switching places with her so she can return the favour.
"God, I needed this!" Shane declares, turning her face to the sun. "Don't you love August weather?"
"Definitely," they answer together.
