If she peeked out of the back of the kitchen, Iku could see Jeane at a table with that small Alma Kinan girl who liked her so much practically trembling over the very honor of being allowed to dine beside her. If Iku tried to go back through the kitchen and into the depths of the castle basements, she might run into Ayame and Chris engaging in some particularly rough close quarters sparring.
It seemed that there was no way she could turn in Budehuc Castle that would not remind her of her confusing feelings for the elegant mercenary woman who had come along with Geddoe and done so much for Le Buque in its tenuous state. Was this a sign that she should face them (at least in front of Queen, if not with Franz)?
Perhaps she needed a change of perspective. How could such wonderful feelings count as something needing to be faced, not embraced?

While Balthier dallied in Rabanastre with the queen, probably doing as much to drive her crazy as to charm her, Fran invited Penelo along to a secluded bit of coastline southeast of Balfonheim. The beach was pristine and white. Absolutely jaw-dropping.
"How do you manage to find these places, Fran?" Penelo asked in awe.
"Consider this the upside of yet another one of Balthier's mishaps," she answered calmly as they left the Strahl to take a preliminary stroll along the beach.
Fran's cat-like steps kept her afloat across the dunes. Penelo unstrapped her boots and allowed her bare feet to sink into the moist sand near the water's edge. The air was pleasantly warm.
It was a lovely week.
Fran preferred to sunbathe nude.
