The Lovers: Right side up, the card represents the meeting of the same mind. Lovers hesitate before making an important decision. Beauty, youth and faith in someone else’s intuition and decision-making power affect the course of a certain event. Upside down, the card represents an unpleasant meeting. It signifies temptation, betrayal, duplicity and jealousy, as well as difficult decisions, internal struggle, enslavement and unfulfilled desire.
"Did Dick and you, had a pleasant evening?"
Barbara fought with the urge to roll her eyes. She had come home after a long night with Batman and (the latest) Robin, she was hungry, tired, her head was killing her and the last thing she wanted was to fight with Dinah about Dick.
"Batman," Barbara corrected her, "wanted me to check an anomaly he thought he found in his system."
"An anomaly? And it took you the whole night to figure it out? Must was a hell of an anomaly!"
Removing her glasses, Barbara felt defeated. "What's really your problem, Dinah?"
Suddenly Dinah's voice wasn't angry, but soft, tired. "I see the way you look at him, Barbara. I see a little smile form in your lips every time he’s here or he calls you. I see the way your voice change when you are with him!"
"I almost married him! You married Ollie! We can't change the past! I can't change the past!"
"You think it's about the past?" Dinah chuckled. "You know what, girl-genius? You are truly stupid sometimes."
"Oh, now I'm stupid!" Barbara had enough. Without much effort, she turned her wheelchair and headed for the door, but Dinah’s words stopped her.
"My problem is that you don’t deny that! You don’t deny that, Babs, even now. You prefer to walk away than to say it's all in my head. Tell me it's all in my head!"
Barbara said nothing.
"Well, at least I got my answer."
