Anticipation:
Helen sat behind her desk, tense with anticipation. It was late, but she knew Karen would come, like every other day this week, every day since the bust-up with Jim which had proven once and for all that Helen had been right.
She strained her ears to catch the sound of approaching footsteps. A soft tapping, then Karen was in the room, crossing the space between them. Helen stood, and in an instant Karen’s lips were on hers, Karen’s hands tugging at her shirt; both women needing more than anything to forget what had brought them to this place.
