Periodic Table Challenge: Vanadium (Inara/Kaylee)

Sep 20, 2008 12:57

Fandom: Firefly
Pairing: Inara/Kaylee
Word Count: 208
Rating: PG
Prompt: 023, Vanadium

It’s an interesting set of tools. Cold, metal implements. Boxes of powder, bits of paper, brushes, paint. With skill, someone could create something pretty. Someone pretty.

And she’s to be the canvas.

“Tilt your face up to me,” Inara says.

Kaylee obeys, mindful of the companion’s appraisal. She’s not used to being looked at so closely. This all seems so glamorous, and she’s not sure if it will work for her. But - she can’t deny it - she’s enjoying the process.

Inara touches Kaylee’s mouth. “Open.”

She parts her lips and suddenly there is the flutter of soft bristles against her lower lip and the press of even softer fingertips into her cheek. Closing her eyes to savor the effect, each motion on her face is heightened. She can feel Inara’s breath and warmth. Her artistry.

Then hands are on her shoulders and she’s being turned. She opens her eyes to find herself, Inara’s version of herself, staring back at her in the mirror. Her jaw drops, her lips parting once again. They are full and pink and beautiful. Shiny.

She is still transfixed by reflections when Inara kisses her, erasing each of her earlier brushstrokes with careful sweeps of her tongue. It is beautiful. It is art.
