Faith climbed the ledge, staring into the infinite. She remembered her life as it had been, just thousands of mistakes. Piling up under her, just like the bodies had. Sorry would not begin to make up for it.
Falling to memories, she recalled the one and only who’d ever tried to help. Buffy, Buffy, Buffy, she’d been nothing but kind, but at the time Faith could nothing but hate her. She had been too far-gone then, even
Standing at the edge of the high building, she wondered if things might have been different had it not been for the night at the dance floor, and the kiss.
“Faith. I forgive you.” She had no idea how she’d found her, but she had. “Thank you Buffy.” Whispered, tears on her eyelashes. Buffy’s eyes wavered; the other slayer took another step towards the edge.
“NO Faith” “You don’t get it. There’s the only way too make up for all the things I did.” She cried speaking it. Though dark lines tainted her arms, she seemed invincible. The world blurred for a second, then Faith jumped. Everything stood still.
At the funeral, Buffy cried, wishing she could be the one lying there instead.
