I like it :) I've always thought the Ashley/Christine dynamic was fundamentally whack and ripe for fictional explorations. I secretly had a little story floating around in my head where Mrs. Davies was plotting to kill off Ashley so she can scam on all that cash; it seems entirely plausible, I think.

Actually, have you read trsim's new offering where all the Davies girls are gang-warring and trying to kill each other? I'm not sure if I necessarily like it...but noir ultra-violence is never not compelling.
