Summary: A lecture on workplace behavior turns into something else.
Claire and Diane filed into Sister Peter Marie’s office like two schoolgirls sent to see the principal. “Have a seat, ladies,” said Sister Pete. She then went on to explain that the Warden was annoyed by their constant bickering that would at times turn into physical fighting. The psychologist began to pull metaphors out of the Human Resources Guide for Harmony in the Workplace- things like the need to build a bridge, not put a wall, between them, and a story about M&Ms all being different colors, yet essentially the same. For her conclusion, she stated a fact that both Claire and Diane knew to be true, “A day may come when you’ll have to put aside your petty differences in order to survive.”
At last, they were dismissed. As they walked out into the hallway, Claire said, “I could do without never doing that again.”
Diane agreed.
“I still don’t like you.”
“Likewise. And you’re too loud to ignore,” Diane stated.
“We could fuck.”
“What?”
“It’s physical, we can rough each other up a bit, and at least one of us would get off.”
Diane fell silent for a moment.
“This mouth can do more than talk, Diane.”
“Deal.”
