Stephanie yawned. “I’d ask if there was any more doughnuts, but from the look of you two, there obviously isn’t.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Kimmy demanded. They had shared the last two doughnuts, but they hadn’t eaten more than their fair share!
“Please,” Stephanie replied with a roll of her eyes. “You still have sugar and sprinkles on your lips.”
Kimmy’s eyes widened as she looked at DJ’s glistening lips. “You’re right. We do!” She leaned across the table and licked the sugar and sprinkles from DJ’s lips.
“Ew! Yuck!”
DJ basked, smiling at Kimmy, but instead of licking her girlfriend’s lips, she reached out, wiped her mouth clean with her fingers, and then licked her fingers clean.
“I’m so not telling you next time. I’ve got to find somewhere better to live.”
“You know you love us.” Kimmy smiled brightly at her.
“Love Dej, yes. Love you, . . . “ She hesitated, then relented, “ . . . yeah, maybe. But love the two of you together? Hell no!”
“Ooo! Aunt Stephanie said a bad word”
Stephanie looked up as the kids came spilling into the room. She sighed. This was not starting out to be a good Monday. “I should’ve just stayed in bed.”
