She’s wanted to tell her the whole time, but she hasn’t been able to find the words. Bo is so courageous. She’s never witnessed such courage in anyone before, not human or Fae. Lauren knows Bo would fight for her freedom to her death, but she can’t bear the thought of bringing her more pain.
She shouldn’t have come here, but she couldn’t stay away either. Every time Bo calls her, she can’t help running to answer. She can’t seem to stop herself, even when she truly tries. It’s not that Bo’s courage gives her nerves of steel; she’ll never have that kind of boldness. She’ll never be able to be so brave, but she can’t stay away from her.
She doesn’t help Bo’s causes for the thrill of seeing science work, although she often claims otherwise and it is exciting to see her plans work. She doesn’t come to merely help the people who need her help either, although she’d like to be able to claim a heroic purpose. She comes for one reason and one reason alone, for the brave, beautiful, possibly slightly crazy woman beside. She comes to bask in the glow of her courage and, if she’s lucky enough to win her touch, the thrill of that loving touch that sets her whole being, even her very soul aflame. She comes for Bo, and Lauren knows, even as Bo threatens the new Ash over her freedom and Lauren pleads for Bo’s safety, that she always will.
