A/N: So the link between drabble and prompt could be called tenuous, but I really wanted to try it from a different angle.

The Line Is But a Blur
Deafening silence fills the ready room. The type of silence where the tiniest look or movement screams volumes of disappointment and disdain.
In front of her desk is Kathryn, hands on hips and blue eyes blazing.
President Laura Roslin stands a mere metre away, returning that glare with equal ice and arms folded across her chest.
Negativity crackles in the air as minutes pass and two contrasting philosophies size each other up. Two women wrought by catastrophe and circumstance. Two leaders so dedicated to their people that they’ve taken on everyone else’s souls at the expense of their own.
Finally, Roslin breaks the stalemate. Ends it with words spoken in a voice so finely modulated that it’s razor-sharp.
"They say doing the right thing is never easy. In my case? It would have been the option requiring the least amount of effort, but - and this is the dark heart of the matter - for the least possible return. Ethics prevail at the most terrible price. That is unacceptable. Righteousness is not a luxury you have at the end of the world, Captain. I hope you never have to learn that lesson."
