In a gesture of trust -or was it supreme confidence? -she joined the Captain in her ready room, leaving her escort by the door.
The Admiral sipped coffee, tipped her cup this way and that, curious of what brought Janeway’s crew such abundance.
She wanted it for her own. Wheels turned and Cain burned with schemes. The Captain saw this and unobtrusively, like wind, put her lips on the Admiral’s.
Cain was unmoved; but only until Janeway said, “I was wondering what betrayal would taste like.”
The Admiral blinked, surprised.

Summary: What does it have that she doesn't?
You have an urge to strike at it, to bully it, to put a price on its life. It stares at you, with its human eyes and human face.
And human blood running down the sides of its mouth.
It quantifies its loss with a look: it wants to frack you, or kill you, or both.
She's soft to the touch when you grab a handful of flesh. You kick her, shove, then push into her mouth with your tongue.
You suck her breath greedily, consume the humanity there. Because in all this, where you’ve left yours is a mystery.
