A/N: Inspired by radak's exceptional icon-making skills; I experimented with William Adama's POV.
Summary: Someone new joins their family.

Bill Adama hated pageantry and it showed. To his embarrassment, Laura gave him a reproving look. He straightened, humbled by her insistence on protocol.

The petite Captain of Voyager dispensed entirely with formalities and Laura’s stunned silence echoed throughout the exchange.

Captain Janeway was generous with her gestures: soft incursions into Laura’s personal space, a lingering hand on Laura’s forearm, shoulder, hand. A smile that reached her eyes.

Laura wasn’t prepared for her warmth or her proximity.

Laura, you’ve been caught flat-footed. Frowning, Bill tucked the reproach into a safe place, stretching his hand outward in a gesture of peace.

Challenge: Surrender

Summary: He really couldn't do anything about it.

He felt like an oracle in a Pythian prophecy, at once conscious of the future and responsive to the now.

Because Laura laughed in spite of her disease, threw delight into auburn spaces, and touched her hair. Because he found their heads together, conspiring against loneliness.

He desired to overrun the weary sanctuary they’d carved in their high places. Laura in Adar’s stead, Janeway in her isolated leadership. It bothered him, kept him awake, aroused his jealousy.

But as months passed, he sank into the seer’s role and surrendered to what was imminent: that neither could ever be alone again.
