So it's after midnight. Shhhh.

Per usual, WNBA RPS, 2x100.

Per usual, I own nothing. Both these drabbles are based on things seen and theorized at yesterday's Washington@Connecticut game, but much of it is utterly fabricated.

Brooke Wyckoff/Jen Derevjanik, Chicago Sky and Phoenix Mercury, former Connecticut teammates

"It's all about blondes," Brooke says, "whether they leave you or leave you for them."

"Or you are them," Jen chuckles.

Brooke leaves off working the crowd to turn her plastic smile at Jen; smiling hurts less than thinking about the blonde who left her.

Jen forces herself to return the smile, glaring daggers down at the shorthaired blonde Laura left her for.

They force themselves to forget and ignore so much- but they can't ignore heat so close, the need for the other's familiar presence next to them, or the shock of burning smooth skin against burning smooth skin.

Laurie Koehn/Megan Mahoney, Washington Mystics and Connecticut Sun, KSU teammates

All Megan wants to do is catch up. Laurie knows this.

It's the way she says it, with a coy smile and an offer to pick up the check with her playoff bonus since she'll "have that extra thousand from kicking your ass", with her eyes bright and her comfort with sharing personal space, that makes it sound like anything else.

She knows it isn't. It'll be a nice dinner; they'll ask about each other's families and their teammates, and shame Kendra and Nicole couldn't make it out. She's not stupid.

But on the bench, she wonders if Megan is.
