You waltz through the door, head held high, your black heels clicking on the tiled floor, and, really, you couldn’t be less subtle even if you tried.
Honestly, the only reason you’re here is to spy on the “competition”, because Granny claims that they’re losing all their customers to this quiet little parlour.
You make your way towards the counter.
Suddenly, a blonde girl emerges from the back room, and your heart skips a beat, because holy shit she’s gorgeous.
“Hi, welcome to Queen’s, can I take your order?” She says.
“What would you recommend, Emma?” You say, with a flirty smile and a wink.
You think she might be blushing. “I’d recommend the chocolate chip.”
“Oh, sounds lovely. I’ll have that.” You tell her, getting out your wallet. “How much?”
“Three bucks.” Emma says, as she scoops the ice cream into a cone. “What’s your name?”
“Ruby.”
“Ruby.” Emma repeats, and you think it sounds better the way she says it. “Well, Ruby, how’s about you and I meet up some time after closing? I get off at six.”
“I’d like that.” You tell her, and Emma smiles like she’s stolen the sun.
