In the grey of the day, after Kate had taken her yellow and blue pill, she had begun to think that Garcia changed her clothes several times a day. Her blouse morphing from a tacky teal, to a rich red, a gentle grullo.
Her lips had become a hazy pink, Garcia's words fuzzy and incoherent.
When Kate took the smaller, green pill, the colors stayed still, sounds much clearer.
She stopped grinding her teeth, the shaking of her hands stopped.
The overwhelming itch to reach for her gun was distant.
Garcia watches with obvious sympathy, the frames of her glasses an atrocious orange.
Kate sighs, waiting for the throbbing in her head to go away.
